Blog Tour: Guest post by J. A. Redmerski

J.A. Redmerski is the author of the YA/adult crossover/Paranormal Romance THE MAYFAIR MOON and the not-so-young-adult novel, DIRTY EDEN. THE MAYFAIR MOON is her first published novel and the first in The Darkwoods Trilogy. She is currently working on the sequel to TMM, titled KINDRED.

I wish I had a place more interesting than my bedroom to call my ‘writing cave’, but truthfully, I have a hard time writing anywhere else. I’ve tried Starbucks, the Barnes & Noble café, even the library—just can’t do it! Public places, no matter how well they are designed for peace and quiet, just have too many distractions.

The best time for me to write is early in the morning while my three kids are in school and I’m alone in the apartment with our Maltese, Ares. For years now, I’ve struggled with getting my writing time in due to my job, which has taken up most of my day. I’m happy to say that recently that problem has changed, which gives me time to write and that is most important me.

The map on the wall behind my chair is there because of a novel I started writing last year. And of course, I always have my Venti Vanilla Iced Latte from Starbucks, which is mandatory.  I like to surround myself with inspiration, whether it’s random things upon the walls (also like my kids artwork you can see behind my monitor in the next photo), or the window beside my desk that lets in the necessary natural light. Nature is very important to me and I would love to find a place outside where I could write comfortably. For now, I settle with the window.

Hey! It’s the Winchester brothers and Castiel on my desktop! Gotta love Supernatural. J And that’s my dog, Ares. I named him after Ares God of War on Xena: Warrior Princess, but when his hair grows out he looks more like a ‘Zeus’. The only thing that really makes him ‘war-like’ though is his black and grey skull n’ bones sweater he wears in the winter.

So that’s my writing cave. It’s simple, compact and lacks trees, but it gets the job done!
